Renewable energy sources: investors need more information and transparency

Institutional Communication Service

The European Commission is likely to include gas and nuclear in the list of environmentally sustainable investments in the near future. However, in view of the future implementation of renewable energy sources, it appears that investors still lack information and transparency. On this issue Massimo Filippini, Full professor at the USI Faculty of Economics and at the ETH Zurich Department of Management, Technology and Economics, was interviewed for the evening news on RSI Radiotelevisione svizzera.

"The Swiss financial marketplace and investors, both institutional and private, will contribute to the realisation of renewable energies in Europe". Yet there is still a lack of information and transparency in this area. According to a recent study co-authored by professor Filippini, private investors' knowledge of the concept of sustainability and sustainable financial products is still limited. Therefore, it will be important to ensure that investors are better informed and also to provide a centralised certification that could increase awareness in this field.
